By Bryan Koenig (April 29, 2022, 6:07 p.m. EDT) – Epic Games has asked a California federal court to protect its newly acquired online record store app Bandcamp from an upcoming Google expansion of the Android apps needed to use its system. Play Store payment, warning that Google’s mandatory commissions and other policies would seriously hurt Bandcamp.
Filed in a multidistrict lawsuit accusing Google of monopolizing the Play Store to force app developers to pay commissions of up to 30%, Epic on Thursday sought a preliminary injunction that would stop the search giant from enforce an impending change on June 1 that would expand the obligation to use Google…
