Plexamp is an app that lets users play the music they already have in their library, all with a slew of shiny extras. Built as a dedicated Plex music player, Plexamp also supports CarPlay, although many users have discovered this the hard way, the driving experience isn’t always the best.
And the most recent update Plexamp received is just living proof in this regard, as the app ends up with a black screen on CarPlay after installing the new version.
In other words, Plexamp is pretty much broken and version 3.8.0 seems to be the culprit.
Ironically, this recent update was meant to be a massive release for CarPlay users as it came with a lot of perks including an improved user interface, shuffle and repeat buttons, additional actions in the Now Playing interface. and a series of additional options.
But what users get after installing the new version is black screen which makes it impossible to listen to music.
The good news is that the dev team are already aware of the issue and are actively working on a fix. Elan Feingold, co-founder and CTO of Plexamp, explains that there is something wrong with the profiles or the rights for the update that was released to the App Store, despite extensive testing before release. exit.
A fix is therefore already in preparation, although for the moment no ETA has been provided. Most likely, however, it wouldn’t take too long before a fix hits the App Store, so for now, you’d better not install the new version if you haven’t already upgraded. updated to version 3.8.0.
If you’ve done so, there’s not much you can do other than wait for a new Plexamp update to roll out.
