Now, artists will be able to upload their music directly to TikTok and start earning royalties, when that music is used.

SoundOn will pay 100% of royalties to music creators in the first year and 90% thereafter.

According to SoundOn’s FAQ, artists will retain all rights and royalties, which means they will own their masters (which we all know is very important thanks to Taylor Swift).

This distribution is provided free of charge and all transaction fees are waived by the platform.

SoundOn can also distribute music to other streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music and is set up to offer a range of artist support tools including audience insight and development, access to TikTok’s song tab (where music is linked on profile pages), TikTok verification, and advice from the marketing team at SoundOn.
