New user-friendly tool lets creators collaborate in real time and record high-quality sound when and where inspiration comes
Soundtrap launched Soundtrap Capture, a collaborative mobile app for capturing and creating music on the go. Designed for musicians and artists, the new app is an interactive and user-friendly tool that allows creators to collaborate in real time and record high-quality sound when and where inspiration comes. As of today, Soundtrap Capture is available worldwide as a free download from the iOS App Store.
This new app aims to capture creativity when and where it strikes. Whether it’s walking down the street, sitting in a cafe or performing in the studio, the Soundtrap Capture app lets artists collaborate. and create on the spot, in the moment. – Per Emanuelsson, Soundtrap Manager at Spotify.
Soundtrap empowers people around the world to create high-quality collaborative music, giving creators the ability to jam in one place – see who’s recording, thrill to ideas, chat and react in real time. With the Soundtrap Capture app, turning concepts into songs has never been easier.
Developed in collaboration with artists, Soundtrap Capture is an artist-oriented experience centered on the very first step of the music creation process: the concept. It’s this first step in the creative process – the first strains of the melody, the improvised initial verse, the spontaneous guitar riff – that Soundtrap aims to streamline through Soundtrap Capture.
Based on information from thousands of musicians and their collaborators, Soundtrap set out to simplify the overly complicated musical ideation process, which typically involves many musicians switching between vocal notes, messaging apps, workstations digital audio and storage destinations to convey their concepts. Equipped with built-in tools for real-time recording, layering, collaboration, and storage, Soundtrap Capture replaces this cross-platform process with an efficient app.
“Empowering artists to create their best work is at the heart of our mission at Spotify,” said Charlie Hellman, vice president and market leader, Spotify. “I’m delighted to see Soundtrap Capture helping more musicians simplify the creation process and capture sparks of inspiration. ”
With an upcoming update, Soundtrap’s Studio tool will soon allow artists to seamlessly collaborate on projects between the Soundtrap Capture app and the Soundtrap Studio app on mobile or desktop. This frictionless workflow will allow, for example, a musician to start an idea on the go through Soundtrap Capture, then have a collaborator pick up and develop that idea using Soundtrap Studio from their computer.
Features immediately available on Soundtrap Capture include:
- Multitrack overlay: layer track recordings, instruments, and vocals on top of each other to create different takes.
- Collaborate with the creators: invite multiple collaborators to join a project, present ideas, record and layer tracks to create songs together in real time.
- Live storage: Synchronize and immediately save all projects on the Soundtrap system and access them easily so you never lose an idea again.
And coming later this year:
