The owners of TikTok are reportedly planning to launch a new music streaming service in China.

ByteDance, which owns the popular video app, is expected to launch the new service, currently called Feilo, later this year.
According to Chinese point of sale 36Kr, work on the app started in 2019 and is the brainchild of Alex Zhu, vice president of products and strategy at ByteDance.
Felio’s reported development comes just a year after ByteDance launched another music streaming platform in India called Resso. It was created to compete with streaming giants Spotify.
Elsewhere this month, it was revealed that TikTok is now watched on average longer than YouTube by users in the UK and US, according to a new report.
According to app monitoring company App Annie, the average time per user spent on apps is higher for TikTok, indicating high levels of engagement.
YouTube retains the top spot for total time spent on apps – not per user – because it has more users than TikTok, with around two billion monthly users – TikTok has around 700 million.
Earlier this summer, TikTok responded to criticism from a comedian who said phrases like “Black Lives Matter” and “Black success” were banned from the platform.
Ziggi Tyler recently called out TikTok in videos showing the app allowed words like “neo-Nazi,” “pro-white,” and “white supremacist” to be included in the biography of content creators in the creator market. of the application.
The videos then showed that terms such as “pro-black”, “Black Lives Matter”, “Black success” and “Black people” were flagged as inappropriate or prohibited.
In response to the controversy, TikTok shared a statement with Forbes. It said, “Our TikTok Creator Marketplace protections, which flag phrases commonly associated with hate speech, have been incorrectly configured to flag phrases without word order.”
